Paul Kershaw is a contemporary artist who was born in York in 1949. Having spent several years as an art teacher, he left in order to concentrate on printmaking. Wood engraving is the craft in which he has specialised since 1985, and a great deal of his work focuses on the landscape of north-west Scotland, and in particular the Isle of Skye. This wonderfully detailed woodblock print is of the forbidding Cuillin mountains in Skye, considered to be the most dramatic mountain range in the country.
