Ruth Stage is a contemporary British artist, she studied art at Newcastle University followed by a post graduate degree in painting at the Royal Academy. She has received several prestigious awards, notably the Lynne Painter-Stainers prize in 2103 and the David Messum Art prize in 2014. She has exhibited widely, including a solo show of her work at the Portland Gallery in London in 2025.
Stage works using egg tempera on white gesso, a traditional technique that mixes egg yolk with distilled water and pure pigments. The result is a luminosity in her paintings, as seen in this atmospheric rendering of a Norfolk sunset.
